Dear DCC Families,

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school-year! I’m thrilled to be serving as your child’s principal and am excited to meet each of you as we begin our second year together. Discovery Canyon Campus is a unique school filled with talented and caring teachers, students that strive to do their best, and families that care deeply about education. I look forward to working with you to ensure your child is able to learn at high rates, explore their curiosities, and discover new ways to express their thoughts and ideas.

I have worked in education for twenty-one years, the first six of those years in the classroom teaching at both the elementary and secondary levels. While teaching I had the opportunity to train and coach other teachers and discovered I had a passion for helping teachers do their best work for students. Since then I have worked as a district level administrator and education consultant. I have also had the opportunity to serve as an assistant principal in three elementary schools and one middle school.

I am eager to support everyone—teachers, students, and parents—in our ongoing pursuit of meaningful experiences that result in personal growth, academic success, and an eagerness to learn more. My door is always open. Please feel free to stop in, call or email me to discuss any thoughts, or ideas to help make this an amazing year for you and your child.

Sincerely,

Andie Ruskin

DCC Community,

I am delighted to start my third year as the Assistant Principal at DCC Elementary School.  I'd like to share a bit about my background. I grew up between New York City, San Francisco and Chicago, the son of a school administrator and a children's book author. I studied history at Kenyon College and earned a Master's degree in Education from Colorado College. After being a classroom teacher for seven years, I served as Dean of Students at DCC Middle School and then joined the elementary school team for the 2015-16 school year. I could not be more proud to be a part of this wonderful school community.  I look forward to another great year of working with the students, parents and staff at DCC.
