Battle of the Books

Students will read a list of challenging books and then go to a regional competition at Colorado College. The official book list can be found at thePikes Peak Regional Battle of the Books site. Although only 5th graders compete, students can start reading the books in any grade.

Club de Arte is an extra-curricular after school club for 5th grade students who seek to learn and experience different art mediums other than those in their current unit of inquiries.

Our intramurals sports programs are designed to help students learn new sports or improve existing skills in familiar sports. Permission slips for each offering will be made available a few weeks prior to beginning.

Kindness and Compassion Club

The Kindness and Compassion Club is a club that promotes kindness and compassion throughout the school. Club members will explore, practice and implement acts of kindness and compassion. KC Club members will also take action by showing kindness and compassion in the community.

DCC offers several music related clubs, including World Choir, All State Choir, Talent Show, & Spring Musical.

Robotics

In Lego Robotics, students work collaboratively to solve a challenge using simple machines. Teams build a model made of Lego elements with a motorized moving part. Students will also create a show-me poster to represent their findings of the challenge at the end of the project.

Sprouts Gardening Club

Sprouts is a youth gardening program developed to engage children in "hands-on" learning to promote a love of gardening, develop an appreciation of the environment, and cultivate the mind.

Student Council

Elementary Student Council members are responsible for modeling leadership at DCC. Members will collaborate, encourage, and share ideas for taking positive action both at school and in our community.  Student Council will sponsor activities that embody the IB philosophy and support our community's social and emotional growth.  


Student Council members will be responsible for participating in student council sponsored events whenever possible. Officers are elected by the elementary student body. Classroom representatives are elected by their class.

Thursday Thunder Walking Club 

To promote health and wellness within the DCC community, students and staff will take morning walks together around campus. Students should wear appropriate athletic shoes to participate.

Yearbook
